Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems
Detect threats before they reach your building. ASG designs, installs and integrates multi-technology perimeter detection that identifies climbing, cutting, digging and crawling attempts at the boundary line — giving your security team the one thing that matters most: time to respond.
Your First Line of Defence
A Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) is a network of sensors installed along a site’s outer boundary — fences, walls, open ground or buried beneath the soil — that detects an intruder the moment they attempt to cross.
Most security systems react once someone is already inside. PIDS works before that point. Every metre between the fence line and your building becomes response time for guards, gates and lockdown procedures.
ASG engineers each PIDS to the site: terrain, fence type, climate, perimeter length and risk level decide which technologies are combined — so you get reliable detection without a flood of false alarms from wind, animals or rain.

10 Detection Technologies. One Secure Perimeter.
No single sensor suits every boundary. We combine the right technologies for your terrain, fence and threat profile.
Fibre-Optic Perimeter Detection
A fibre cable mounted on the fence or buried in the ground senses vibration and pressure along its entire length. It carries no electricity in the field, so it is immune to lightning and electromagnetic interference.
- Covers several kilometres from one controller
- Pinpoints intrusion location along the cable
- Ideal for hazardous or remote sites
Electric Fence Intrusion Detection
A monitored high-voltage pulse fence that physically deters intruders with a safe, non-lethal shock and triggers an alarm on cutting, shorting, or tampering with the wires.
- Strong visible deterrent
- Alarm on cut, short or earth fault
- Zoned energisers for faster response
Microwave & PIR Detection
Microwave transmitter-receiver pairs create an invisible detection zone across open ground, while Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors detect body heat moving through a beam. Used together, they confirm genuine intrusion.
- Covers gaps where fencing isn’t possible
- Dual-technology reduces false alarms
- Quick to install on existing sites
Seismic Detection
Ground-mounted seismic sensors pick up footsteps, digging and vehicle movement through soil vibration. Completely hidden, they alert you without the intruder ever knowing they’ve been detected.
- Invisible and tamper-resistant
- Detects walking, running, digging
- Suits borders, pipelines and farms
Thermal Perimeter Surveillance
Thermal cameras detect heat signatures instead of light, so they see intruders in total darkness, smoke, dust and haze. Built-in analytics raise an alarm when a person or vehicle crosses a virtual line.
- Works with zero lighting
- Long-range human detection
- Video analytics with line-crossing rules
Radar-Based PIDS
Ground surveillance radar scans large open spaces in every weather condition, tracking the position, speed and direction of each target and cueing PTZ cameras to follow them automatically.
- Wide-area coverage per unit
- Tracks multiple targets at once
- Unaffected by rain, fog or darkness
Buried Cable Detection
Sensor cables buried along the boundary generate an invisible detection field above ground. Anyone crossing it is detected — with no visible hardware to spoil the look of the site or warn intruders.
- Terrain-following, fully concealed
- Distinguishes people from small animals
- Ideal for estates, heritage and VIP sites
Fence Vibration Detection
Sensors or sensor cable fixed directly to your existing mesh, palisade or chain-link fence detect the specific vibration patterns of cutting, climbing and lifting — while filtering out wind and rain.
- Upgrades fences you already have
- Smart signal processing filters weather
- Cost-effective per metre
PIDS + CCTV Integration
Every perimeter alarm automatically calls up the nearest camera, moves PTZ cameras to the exact zone and records the event — so operators verify what’s happening in seconds instead of dispatching blindly.
- Alarm-triggered camera pop-up
- PTZ auto-tracking to the zone
- Pre- and post-event video recording
Central Monitoring & Alarm Management
A single control-room platform shows every zone on a live site map, prioritises alarms, logs operator actions and links to gates, lighting and sirens — giving you full situational awareness from one screen.
- Graphical site map with live zones
- Alarm priority, logs and audit trail
- Remote access & mobile alerts
From Intrusion to Response in Seconds
Every ASG PIDS follows the same proven chain — detect, locate, verify, respond.
Detect
Sensors register climbing, cutting, digging or crossing at the perimeter line.
Locate
The system identifies the exact zone or distance along the boundary where the event occurred.
Verify
Linked cameras swing to the zone so operators confirm the threat visually on-screen.
Respond
Guards are dispatched, lights and sirens activate and gates lock — all logged for review.
Which PIDS Fits Your Site?
Select the boundary type that best describes your facility to see the technologies our engineers typically recommend.
One Perimeter. One Command Centre.
PIDS delivers its full value when it talks to everything else on your site. ASG connects perimeter detection with the rest of your security, automation and access infrastructure — so an alarm triggers an automated, coordinated response.
- CCTV & VMS — alarm-linked camera call-up and recording
- Access Control & Road Blockers — automatic lockdown of entry points
- Floodlights & Sirens — instant deterrence at the breached zone
- Guard Dispatch — SMS, app and radio notifications with zone details

Perimeter Security Questions Answered
A PIDS is a set of sensors installed along a site’s boundary — on fences, walls, open ground or buried underground — that detects and locates anyone attempting to climb, cut, dig under or cross the perimeter, and alerts security staff immediately.
CCTV records and shows what is happening, but relies on someone watching or on analytics. PIDS actively detects the physical act of intrusion at the boundary. The strongest setups combine both: PIDS raises the alarm and CCTV instantly shows operators what triggered it.
It depends on your perimeter. Fence-mounted vibration or fibre-optic sensors suit existing fences; radar and microwave suit open land; buried cable and seismic sensors suit sites needing covert protection; thermal cameras suit low-visibility areas. ASG recommends a combination after a site survey.
Modern PIDS use signal processing and zone-by-zone calibration to filter out environmental noise. Combining two technologies and verifying alarms with CCTV further reduces nuisance alarms, so operators only respond to genuine events.
Yes. Fence vibration and fibre-optic sensors can be retrofitted onto most existing mesh, palisade and chain-link fences, and most PIDS controllers integrate with established CCTV and VMS platforms. We assess compatibility during the survey.
Yes. Central alarm management software can be accessed from the control room, remote workstations and mobile devices, with instant notifications showing the alarm zone and linked camera footage.
