Overview

Executive Summary

Askari-XI is one of Lahore’s large, well-established gated communities, home to more than 30,000 residents. A community of this scale needs vehicle and pedestrian access control that can tell residents, visitors, and pedestrians apart automatically, without turning every entry into a manual checkpoint stop.

ASG Systems Pakistan was engaged as the solutions and service provider responsible for planning, supplying, and installing an e-tag based resident access system, a dedicated visitor lane, a tripod turnstile for pedestrian access control, and visitor management software across the community’s entry points, completed in 2022.

The brief

The Challenge

As a large gated community with constant resident, visitor, and pedestrian traffic, Askari-XI needed an access system that could separate these flows cleanly:

  1. Let registered residents pass through the gate quickly via e-tag, without stopping to show ID on every trip.
  2. Give visitors their own dedicated lane, so non-resident traffic doesn’t bottleneck resident entry.
  3. Control pedestrian access separately from vehicle traffic at community entry points.
  4. Keep a software-based record of every visitor entering, supporting security across a community of more than 30,000 residents.

What we delivered

The Solution: E-Tag, Visitor Lane, Tripod Control & Visitor Management

ASG Systems Pakistan built a layered access system across Askari-XI’s entry points, separating resident, visitor, and pedestrian traffic into their own controlled lanes.

Component 01

E-Tag Resident Access

Registered residents’ vehicles carry an e-tag that is read automatically at the dedicated E-Lane, raising the barrier without the driver needing to stop and present ID—keeping resident traffic moving quickly at every gate.

Component 02

Sector Gate Checkpoints

At sector-level gates, security staff and a signal-guided E-Lane checkpoint manage the steady flow of residents, deliveries, and service vehicles entering each part of the community.

Component 03

Dedicated Visitor Lane

A separate visitor lane, marked clearly apart from the resident e-tag lane, routes non-resident traffic through its own checkpoint—keeping visitor processing from slowing down registered residents.

Component 04

Tripod Turnstile & Pedestrian Access Control

At pedestrian entry points, a tripod turnstile controls foot traffic separately from vehicle lanes, giving security staff a clear, one-person-at-a-time checkpoint for residents and visitors on foot.

Component 05

Visitor Management Software

Every visitor entering through the dedicated visitor lane is logged through visitor management software, giving community security a clear, searchable record of who has entered the premises and when—an important layer of security for a community of this size.

How we did it

Implementation Approach

  1. 1Site survey across Askari-XI’s main and sector-level entry points to plan e-tag, visitor lane, and tripod placement.
  2. 2Procurement and staging of e-tag readers, barriers, and tripod turnstiles for each checkpoint.
  3. 3Integration of visitor management software with the visitor lane checkpoint process.
  4. 4Civil and electrical works for lane signage, barrier foundations, and turnstile installation.
  5. 5Installation, calibration, and functional testing of every e-tag reader, barrier, and turnstile.
  6. 6Coordination with community management and security staff for resident e-tag enrollment and a smooth go-live in 2022.

Outcome

Results & Impact

The completed installation gave Askari-XI a layered, community-wide access control system:

  • Fast, automatic e-tag access for registered residents at the main and sector gates.
  • A dedicated visitor lane that keeps non-resident traffic from slowing down resident entry.
  • Controlled pedestrian access via tripod turnstiles, separate from vehicle checkpoints.
  • A software-based visitor record supporting security across a community of more than 30,000 residents.
